Providing Farmers & Ranchers with Frequently Asked Questions
Q I bought a new computer, but it doesn't have a floppy disk drive to back-up my data. A Farm Biz Version 4B and Ultra Farm Version 5F handles automatic back-up and restore to USB Thumb Drives, Jump Drives and formatted Re-Writable CD's. Q I am using Farm Biz version 3A or 3B and get a trap error FF0601 file not found when I try to print? A If you ordered the free version 3C.5 shipped between Jan.1, 2003 through Oct. 31, 2003 you should install it. You can order the latest update 4A.2 available after Nov. 1, 2003. To review the program improvements click here. You can download a free patch that only fixes trap error FF0601. The patch is approximately 3 meg in size. Download the patch. Q I am using Ultra Farm for Windows and get trap error FF0601 file not found when I try to print. A You are using an old version. Check the main menu. If the version is not 5D, then you didn't install the 5D version shipped to you in March 2003. Q I am using the Windows version. The automatic Check Number incrementing was working fine but now it's stuck on the same number all the time. What's wrong? A This is caused by Windows FRAGMENTATION. To correct the problem run the Windows Utility DEFRAG. This is usually located in "Programs, Accessories, System Tools". Run "Scan Disk" first, then "Defrag". Q I am using your DOS version and my new computer doesn't print any reports. What can I do? A Most new printers are not DOS compatible or they are using a USB interface. You will need to upgrade to the Windows version. Q I have a Farm Checkbook and a personal checking account. Can I still use Farm Biz? A Set-up each checking account as a separate farm (separate set of records). At the end of each month select and print any farm items purchased from the personal checking account. Use items 300-499 for income and 650-800 for expense. Enter these transactions into the farm checkbook. To keep the checkbook in balance make an off setting entry for the totals by using either 519 or 819 (transfer to checking). Q Can I keep more than one farm set of records with your program? A You can have multiple farms and multiple years. It only takes two or three clicks to change from one farm to another. We have several customers using Farm Biz and Ultra Farm that provide bookkeeping and accounting services for other farmers and ranchers. Q My custom work doesn't show up on Schedule F. A Enterprise Codes 9001 (Custom Work) through 9105 (Rental Property) are printed separately for reporting on Tax Schedules C & E. To keep Custom Work on Schedule F do not use enterprise codes 9001-9004. Q I use Farm Biz for DOS and my printer does not print the whole report. It leaves off the text on the right side of the page. A You need to upgrade to the Windows version. Do you have questions for Technical Support? Please send your questions to support@farmbiz.com |
